Description
Material: 1 cm parchment paper foam board, two sheets of parchment paper - 200 gr, two sheets of printer paper, a compass or a plate around 23 cm in diameter, neoprene contact adhesive, a can of gold spray paint, newspaper, pins, an adhesive frame hanger.
Tools: ShapeCutter™ Plus (4806), Leaf ShapeTemplate (4882), cutting mat (8610), Rotary cutter (9794) and 15x60cm acrylic ruler (8732), Bark Texture Plate (5653), 3-tip embossing tool (5777) and double-tip embossing stylus (5603), Paper Edgers Deckle (0218), 3D foam pads (1369).
Step 1:
Frame structure: (or buy a ready-made frame and decorate it).
Cut a 43 x 46 cm rectangle out of the foam board. Draw the diagonals with a pencil. Then 4 cm from the rectangle obtained, draw a rectangle in the centre, the angles of which must be situated on the diagonals. Cut along the line to cut out this rectangle.
On a sheet of paper draw the arc of a circle using the compass (radius 11.5 cm) or with a plate (23 cm ø). Intersect this arc with a 19 cm long straight line giving a perpendicular height to the circle of around 6 cm. Copy the template obtained onto the remaining foam board and cut the shape out 4 times. Cut 8 rectangles of around 4 x 8 cm from the remaining scraps. Glue the right section of each curved piece to one side of the small rectangles. Place a curved pieced in each corner in a vertical position on the diagonal line and block between two rectangles to keep it straight.
Step 2:
Cut two 28 x 43 cm and two 28 x 46 cm strips out of the parchment paper. Make a 2 cm fold along each large edge.
Step 3:
Cut the second sheet of paper 28 cm from the top, make a 2 cm fold at the top and bottom. Place the sheet of paper bridge-fashion on one of the sides of the frame, fold on the edge of the latter at the corner, on the rounded piece. Fix the leaf under the frame with pins inserted into the foam board and draw a pencil line along the edge on the rounded part of the corner. Remove the leaf and lay flat: the line gives an S-curve. Cut out the leaf along this line and reproduce the template obtained in a facing position at the end of each strip of Canson paper. Cut the end of each strip along the line and place the strip on one side of the frame corresponding to its length, from the outside (fold along the bottom edge of the frame) to the inside, each end placed on the rounded parts of the angles, following the curve. Fix the part above the fold under the base of the frame. Prepare the 4 sides in this way and when finished, glue under the base and under the rounded edges of the top.
Step 4:
Decoration:
Cut 4 x 35 cm strips of Canson paper 1 cm wide with the edging scissors. Stick them onto the angles to mask any assembly imperfections.
With the ShapeCutter™ Plus and the Oak leaf ShapeTemplate, cut out 16 Oak leaves. Emboss them using the Woodgrain plate, the 3-tip tool and stylus. Stick these leaves onto the structure with 3 glue dots on each.
When everything is well bonded, place the frame on sheets of newspaper, well spread out. Spray, inclining the frame to ensure all parts of the leaves are sprayed gold. Spray a second coat for a perfect finish.
Stick the hanger to the middle of one small side.
